Skin Tags Treatment

Skin tags are also called as acrochordons. This is a skin growth that is benign in nature but still annoying. They are called as papillomas also at times but skin tags are not caused by papilloma virus. Skin tags are harmless and painless growths that are skin colored and usually occur in the skin folds on the neck, under the arms, trunk, under the breasts, and in the groin. Skin tags develop in both men and women and the size varies from 1mm to 5cm. The initial appearance of skin tags is like that of tiny soft bumps on the skin. With time, they grow into a flesh-colored piece of skin attached to the skin surface by a peduncle. Skin tags can be moved or wiggled. Although they are painless, they cause a lot of irritation especially if they are rubbed. If a skin tag is turned or twisted on its peduncle or stalk, a blood clot can be seen within it making the skin tag painful.

Skin tags that are present on the visible areas of the body like face can be removed easily. There are several treatments available for removing skin tag. The surgery should not be carried out at home instead it should be done by healthcare practitioner.
